Texas CHL / LTC

Note: Texas has renamed the CHL Class to LTC Class!

We offer the following License To Carry Classes for New Students:

We offer PRIVATE CLASSES scheduled at times that are convenient for you.

Effective September 1, 2013, the Texas License To Carry Class is a Four Hour Class, not including RANGE TIME. The cost of the class is $70.

The price includes:

Classroom Fee

Range Fee

Notarizing your Affidavits (Not required if applying online for your LTC at the DPS website)

Certificate of Completion (Form-100)

Note: Effective March 1st, 2011, the TX DPS requires that all Texas Concealed Handgun License Applicants obtain their fingerprints from L1. You cannot schedule an appointment until the TX DPS has received your application.To schedule an appointment, call 1-888-467-2080 or visit their website at https://www.ibtfingerprint.com/locations/?st=tx. This does not need to be done before coming to class.

YOU MUST KNOW HOW TO SHOOT BEFORE YOU COME TO THE RANGE TO QUALIFY! IF YOU DO NOT KNOW HOW TO LOAD, UNLOAD AND FIRE A HANDGUN, YOU NEED TO TAKE THE INTRODUCTION TO HANDGUNS CLASS BEFORE YOU QUALIFY. THE LTC CLASS DOES NOT TEACH SHOOTING SKILLS.

Please bring to class:

Your state I.D., Driver's License, or US Passport

Black pen & paper for notes

You will be required to qualify with a handgun!

Bring your UNLOADED handgun and UNLOADED magazine in a bag or case.

If possible, leave your handgun in your vehicle until the instructor instructs you to bring the handgun to the shooting range.

If you cannot leave your handgun in your vehicle, bring your unloaded handgun unloaded magazine and your ammo (in a bag or case) to the classroom. The Instructor will store your handgun and ammo in our Gun Cabinet. The Gun Cabinet is secure and is in the classroom. The instructor will give you your handgun and ammo when it is time for you to qualify.

Only standard handgun calibers can be shot on our range.

Bring 50 rounds for the qualification exercise.

Note: We do not sell ammo. If you bring your own handgun, you will need to supply your own ammunition.

If you do not have a handgun, you can rent a handgun, including ammo, when you take the class.

Note: If you qualify with a Revolver, you can carry either a Revolver or a Semiautomatic when you receive your License To Carry from the Texas Department of Public Safety. If you qualify with a Semiautomatic, you can carry a Revolver or Semiautomatic when you receive your License To Carry from the Texas Department of Public Safety.

On the range, you will shoot the following qualification:

From a distance of 3 Yards:

- - - 1 shot in 2 seconds (5 times)
    - 2 shots in 3 seconds (5 times)
    - 5 shots in 10 seconds (1 time)

From a distance of 7 Yards:

- - - 5 shots in 10 seconds (1 time)
    - 2 shots in 4 seconds (1 time)
    - 3 shots in 6 seconds (1 time)
    - 1 shot in 3 seconds (5 times)
    - 5 shots in 15 seconds (1 time)

From a distance of 15 Yards:

- - - 2 shots in 6 seconds (1 time)
    - 3 shots in 9 seconds (1 time)
    - 5 shots in 15 seconds (1 time)
